Slowly, silently and with the stealth of a cat approaching its prey, my children have taken over my iPad. The screen, once laden with apps for my writing, banking, and household management has been replaced with Dora, Team Umizoomi and Barbie. My device’s bookshelf contains scores of children’s stories, and I juggle my books in an out to make sure there is room.
So is this a good or a bad thing?
I have been asked to review a new children’s eBook and app Luca Lashes: The Brown-Eyed Boy with the Magic Eyelashes by Nicole Fonovich. In the story, readers can interact with Luca as he uses his magical eyelashes to face his fears.
Before I begin the review process, I wanted to hear some thoughts from my readers.
- Do you have apps on your phone or tablet just for your kids?
- How often do you allow them to play on your device?
- What do you look for in children’s eBooks and apps?
