A couple of years ago, I did a brief stint as a homeschooling mom. I was given scores of textbooks by a friend, bought some workbooks, and felt overwhelmed. I was sure I wasn’t covering something.  There were some lessons my kids enjoyed, like the Jelly Belly science experiment. There were some lessons my children dreaded…namely Math.
Recently,  I was given I was given the unique opportunity to review Time 4 Learning’s online curriculum. I can sum up my experience with the program by simply stating it makes me want to homeschool again!
The lessons are cute, creative and engaging. My 5-year-old sampled the lessons, and was excited when she first saw the little blue mouse bouncing across her screen. The lessons were easy for her to navigate through. An arrow guides them through which lesson to click on next, making her time at the computer her time. The lessons were challenging enough to keep her occupied, and engaging enough to make her think she was playing instead of learning. They’ve designed the curriculum so that she can take quizzes on the information by having the questions read to her.  She was so proud when she took her first quiz, and asked me to print it out so she could show her dad and older siblings when they got home.
They really take the guess-work out of homeschooling.  I looked through the older grades and saw they provided spelling lists, required reading list, and a supply list for science experiments. There are also printable worksheets that coincide with the lessons, and worksheets that help you plan lessons. Keeping records is also easy, as the lessons are automatically graded and recorded, and one click on your child’s backpack will take you to their records.
From Pre-K to 8th grade, this is a great tool for homeschooling moms. But it can also be used to prepare your little ones for school, or used as an after school/summer program to help bolster your child’s learning. At only $19.95 a month for the first child, and $14.95 for additional children, with no contracts to sign, this is a great program. The little blue mouse will definitely stay in our house!
I was given a free trial of this product for the purpose of this review. However, all opinions and recommendations are my own. I was not required to give a positive review.
