A friend recently suggested that I put my novels on my blog. Spread out over days (or weeks) each post would be a chapter or scene. Initially, I shrugged the idea aside. But the other evening, I was watching one of my favorite shows, and I thought, “Wow, they should have…”
When I was younger I read those you-choose-the-ending books. At the end of each section, the reader picked some sort of action by the character, which lead the reader to a specific page. I’ve written often about the relationship between the reader and the author. The idea of a “blog novel” enhances that relationship, allowing the audience to shape the story and still be surprised at where their choices led. It also allows me a better snapshot of readers hopes and expectations, likes and dislikes, when I am writing.
