F is for…Fashion

Mom, you are not a fashionista…but my teacher could help you, because she is.”

That was the advice I got from my oldest daughter today as we strolled through the racks of clothes.  She is right.  My fashion sense is low…no, it is in the negatives.  My wardrobe consists of jeans in the winter/fall, and shorts in the spring/summer.  I have a few skirts (all of which are too long, and apparently make me look like I’m Frodo Baggins’ neighbor).

When the cold weather used to hit, I would grumble.  Sweats would have been my top choice, but I don’t want to always walk around like I am begging to go on “What Not to Wear”.  So every year, I would put on jeans that either were too tight in some places, but fit well on my waist, or fit right on my hips but would never stay there, because the waist was too big.  However, last year I found these Right Fit jeans, and they are shaped to fit your body type.  I’m considered curvy (I like that title, makes me feel sexy, not Winnie the Poohish).  Now I can actually wear my size, and they fit my hips and waist.  They feel like jeans are supposed to feel – they slide on, they are comfortable, and you can dress them up or down according to the occasion.

And that is exactly what I did today.  I needed to get a few more pairs, and I bought a couple of shirts and sweaters to go with it, some dressy, some casual.  I may not be a fashionista, but I felt like one today strolling out of the store with some beautiful purchases!
